It will be a quick trip for Mayor Eric Garcetti to Washington, D.C., to take part in an early morning news conference with Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer to announce the award of $856 million for the Purple Line.
The event, which will be held at 7 a.m. PDT, wil also include Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx, the California Congressional delegation and MTA officials to accept the funds.
Garcetti was leaving tonight and will return Wednesday after the news conference.
